Born district is one of the most “happening spots” in Barcelona. The streets are lined with fantastic bars, cosy restaurants and straight from the catwalk fashion shops. Being one of the ´trendiest´ areas of Barcelona to live in, it seems to keep expanding in variety and choice but yet it somehow manages to maintain its fabulous charm. The word `Borne´ originally meant `tournament´ or `competition´ Nowadays the Back in the 1980´s the Born played an important role in the alternative art culture of the city. Inspired by the Picasso museum located in the district there are many smaller galleries and workshops on the little side streets. Places of interest : Santa María del Mar Church, Picasso Museum, Borne Market.
